Pakistan asks for US drones
Pakistan has asked the US to provide the country with drones that would allow the country to strike extremists hiding in its tribal areas.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, said at a joint dinner with his Afghan counterpart, Dadfar Rangeen Spanta, and the US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton in Washington that Pakistan should control the missile strikes that have killed high-level extremists but also enraged many Pakistanis.
"Not the United States but Pakistan should carry out drone attacks," he said during the Wednesday talks, Press TV correspondent reported.
"Giving Pakistan the technology would help ease one of the most sensitive issues in US-Pakistan ties," Qureshi added.
Qureshi said the matter was raised in an earlier meeting with the US President, Barack Obama's National Security Adviser, retired Gen. James Jones.
