First Satellites and now Submarines

There’s an old joke about submarines with screen hatches. Or maybe it was portholes. But given the current story, portholes might have been helpful.

Two days ago I noted a derelict Russian military satellite crashed into and destroyed a functional commercial satellite scattering debris across at least two states.

10 days or so ago two nuclear submarines from Great Britain and France actually collided in the depths of the Atlantic. Best explanation would seem to be the stealth capability of both HMS Vanguard and Le Triomphant are so good they never “saw” each other.

There was no real chance of a nuclear detonation according to The Sun. A reactor breach or damage to a warhead is a different thing. It seems we were lucky not to have had a nuclear spill.

One wonders how this will impact the Energy debate and the reemergence of nuclear energy as a clean and safe option? Source
