Egyptian army conducts series of war games on Sinai Peninsula

The Egyptian military has conducted a series of war games on the Sinai Peninsula designed to improve the army's combat capability, Egypt's state news agency reported on Tuesday.

Large numbers of infantry, armored and artillery units as well as air force warplanes have taken part in the ten-day exercise, according to MENA.

It was not clear whether the war games have been completed or are ongoing.Egypt has staged several war games on the Sinai Peninsula over the last few years. They are seen by many experts as indication that Egypt is boosting its combat capabilities out of concern for rising tensions in the Middle East.
