Biden meets with 'dangerous' Cheney

USraeli vice president-elect Joe Biden has met with the incumbent, whom he has called the 'most dangerous vice president' in US history.

During Barak Obama's historic presidential campaign, Biden fiercely criticized Dick Cheney, who is known as a chief architect of the invasion of Iraq and a hard-liner in the foreign policy arena.

"The idea he doesn't realize, that Article I of the Constitution defines the role of the vice president of the United States, that's the executive branch. ... The idea he's part of the legislative branch is a bizarre notion invented by Cheney to aggrandize the power of a unitary executive, and look where it has gotten us. It has been very dangerous," said Senator Biden in the vice presidential debate on October 3.

Shrugging off Biden's rhetoric, Cheney welcomed his successor to the vice presidential residence at the Naval Observatory in northwest Washington on Thursday.

The mansion will become the Bidens' official residence in January.

Cheney spokeswoman Megan Mitchell described the meeting as 'a good visit' and Biden spokeswoman Elizabeth Alexander thanked the Cheneys for 'their gracious hospitality', AFP reported.

The Biden-Cheney meeting followed Obama's private one-on-one talks with President George W. Bush at the White House on Monday. More?
