Jewish Community welcomes Gordon Brown
New British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been warmly welcomed by the Jewish community after officially taking office this week.
The former Chancellor became Prime Minister yesterday after Tony Blair formally stood down and was immediately praised by the Holocaust Education Trust and Jewish businessman Sir Ronald Cohen. Karen Pollock, HET Chief Executive said she was looking forward to working with Brown. She told the Jewish News: “We are deeply grateful for the huge commitment and constant encouragement Gordon Brown has given to the work of the Holocaust Educational Trust. It is the funding he personally initiated that has enabled us to take thousands of 16-18 year old students from all over the UK to Auschwitz every year. A project with far reaching impact.
”Gordon Brown has recognised the importance of our work time and again. His support and his leadership in this cause send a clear message as to the great significance he and the British Government, place on Holocaust education.” More
