War Lies and the Compliant Media
At a House investigation panel this week, more lies about the Iraq and Afghanistan wars were uncovered and lay bare as comprehensive plan to purposely deceive the American people. It has to do with the two media heroes in both conflicts- the army's poster girl Jessica Lynch in Iraq and the war casualty NFL star Pat Tillman in Afghanistan- and beyond the obvious evidence of government alteration of the facts there is the unsettling feeling that the US media had been compliantly negligent in covering the story at worst, or merely dropped the ball at best. Either way, the controlling element and vanguard of American opinion- which is the popular press- seems to be experiencing an identity crisis not unlike the one it experienced in 1964 and took until the Watergate investigation in the early 70's when it declared itself cured.
