Hiroshima, an Unprecedented War Crime
The Hiroshima tragedy took place 64 years ago, on August 6, when USA's B-29 dropped an A-bomb on the city at 8:15 a.m. from the height of 10,000 meters. The bomb, Little Boy, exploded 600 meters above the ground. About 200,000 people were killed, went missing, or died of radiation exposure as a result of the bombing. All buildings and constructions were leveled on the territory of 12 kilometers from the epicenter of the explosion.
Another bomb, Fat Man, exploded two days later, on August 9, in Nagasaki. About 74,000 people were killed in the explosion. The first international conference to ban nuclear weapons took place in Hiroshima on August 6, 1955. A huge territory in the center of the city was used as an illustration of a nuclear disaster.
Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso stated on August 6, 2009, that Japan would continue following three non-nuclear principles of the nation's Constitution. Japan refuses to own, produce and import nuclear weapons...
Exactly why do people say that Israel can deny having nuclear weapons? Everyone knows they have them. It is also a fact that they have refused to sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, but suffer no sanctions or threats whatsoever.
Japan may or may not have acquired or will acquire nuclear weapons. Not good for the neighbors of course. However, if one were Japanese, one might like to return the favour to the USA. Japan's defeat was certain before the bombs fell, which makes this crime all the worse. There was no earthly reason to destroy all those human lives. The USA gave some lame excuse about untimately the bombs "saved lives," but what they really mean is WORTHY lives. That says a lot about the country's mentality and should be kept in mind for future reference by all nations.
The USA has a long history of wanton, malicious destruction of civilian life, of non-combatants. This is a serious problem for the international community and restraints must be put in place, not that one single international law or agreement means anything to the USA. This horrific crime must never be repeated and the world remembers the victims along with the Japanese people. More
