The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) president Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan has expressed deep pain and concern over the bomb blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad.

In a statement released on July 28, while offering his sincere condolences to the family members of the innocent victims, Dr Khan said that no effort should be spared to nab the real culprits behind these dastardly crimes against the country and the people of India.

Dr Khan cautioned the police, security and intelligence agencies not to hurry to make statements or leak information until proper investigations are completed. He called upon these agencies and the central and state home ministries to probe all possible suspects and all possible beneficiaries from such crimes.

“A certain political party which has usurped the common plank of fighting terrorism is a sure beneficiary of such incidents in view of the forthcoming elections,” Dr Khan said and noted that these terrorist incidents are taking place in states ruled by this particular party and the chief minister of another state ruled by this party has already predicted that the next target of these crimes will be his state.

Dr Khan specifically said that Hindutva criminal and terrorist gangs, responsible for similar crimes in the recent past in places like Nanded, Parbhani, Tenkasi and Thane, should be included within the purview of the current and future probes into all terrorist acts in the country.

Dr Khan observed that such criminal gangs have received support from the Shiv Sena supremo and his newspaper Samna but the Maharashtra state authorities have failed to take any action to date against him or his newspaper for openly supporting and encouraging terrorism.

Dr Khan asked the central government to form a high powered neutral panel of retired judges, human rights activists, top lawyers and journalists to oversee the investigations into all terrorist acts. Such a neutral panel is needed to restore the Muslim community’s faith in the investigations by security and intelligence agencies which, due to their consistently one-sided probes after each such criminal act, have totally forfeited the confidence of the Muslim community.

Dr Khan also asked the central government to keep a sharp eye on the dubious activities of foreign intelligence agencies like Mossad and FBI which are operating freely in our country. He asked the central government to immediately close down the offices of all such foreign intelligence agencies as their presence on our soil is not in the interest of the peace and security of the country. On January 12 Indian intelligence officials in Calcutta detained 11 foreign nationals for interrogation before they were to board a Dhaka-bound Bangladesh Biman flight. They were detained on the suspicion of being hijackers.

"But we realised that they were tabliqis (Islamic preachers), so we let them go," said an intelligence official. They had planned to attend an Islamic convention near Dhaka, but Bangladesh refused them visa. Later, seemingly under Israeli pressure, India allowed them to fly to Tel Aviv.

According to a report by The Associated Press, Mohamed ElBaradei, Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, finds it "baffling" that there are apparently no commercial satellite pictures available of a site in Syria taken in the months just after the Israelis allegedly destroyed whatever was allegedly there prior to September 6th, 2007.

Now, if Albright, himself, has enough spare big-bucks to go around commissioning commercial satellite operators to take beaucoup high-resolution pictures of a remote patch of Syrian desert, one immediately wonders where, when and why Albright obtained said big-bucks.

Russian hackers penetrate Pentagon computer system in cyber attack

Computer hackers suspected of working from Russia successfully penetrated Pentagon computer systems in one of the most severe cyber attacks on US military networks.

The electronic attack was so serious that Adm Michael Mullen, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, briefed President George W Bush and Robert Gates, the defence secretary.

Defence officials told the Los Angeles Times that the attack struck computers within the US Central Command, which oversees Iraq and Afghanistan, and involved malicious software - known as "malware" - that permeates a network.

"This one was significant, this one got our attention," said an official, speaking anonymously.

Officials did not disclose the extent of the damage and would not elaborate on the reasons for believing the assault originated in Russia.

The Pentagon and other US government departments face repeated cyber attacks, especially from Russia and China, either from individuals or indirectly from those countries' governments.

India-Pakistan tensions may pull in U.S.

“Relationships between the two countries will deteriorate,” said Kuldip Nayar, a veteran commentator on India-Pakistan ties.

India is threatening to suspend the peace process with Pakistan in the wake of the Mumbai massacre, say reports.

The country’s government is considering the move in response to growing public anger over the terror attacks that left 174 people dead, the Press Trust of India reported.

Pakistan has “categorically denied” any involvement in the bloodshed in India’s financial centre.

But India says it has proof of Pakistani links, and claims the sole survivor of the gunmen - Mohammad Ajmal Qasam - is from the country.

Wajid Hasan, Pakistan’s high commissioner to London, told Sky News it was a “very confusing situation” and stressed it was important not to get involved in the “blame game”.

Asked whether Pakistan feared the Indian reaction to the massacre, he said “we have got to get ready and prepare for any eventuality” and his country would not “take it lying down”.

Pakistan has warned it would move troops to the Indian border if tensions rose between the nuclear-armed rivals.

An official in Islamabad said the next one to two days would be crucial for their relations.

China official daily says don’t rule out Hindu radicals

New Delhi: The Chinese Communist party’s mouthpiece — the People’s Daily — has carried a news article, indicating involvement of Hindu radicals in the Mumbai Terror attacks. The article has based its argument on a “red thread” worn by the attackers on their wrists.

The article — written in Chinese — contributed by its India-based correspondent Ren Yan, noted that although the Deccan Mujahideen had claimed responsibility for the attack, “it can be seen from the red thread worn by the attackers around their wrists that they could be Hindus”.

Unnamed analysts are quoted as saying: “Radical elements from Hinduism could also carry out this attack, because they have long opposed the US’s hegemonistic policies”.

It also said that “India’s growing proximity to the US has invoked their strong oppositions. Some within the Hindu community are unhappy with domestic and foreign policies of the Congress-led Government and may have engineered this attack in order to influence the outcome of the approaching general elections.” INDIA EXPRESS

'Pak may relocate 100,000 army personnel to border'

Pakistan may relocate around 100,000 military personnel from its restive border area with Afghanistan if there is an escalation in tension with India, which has hinted at the involvement of Pakistani elements in the Mumbai carnage, a media report said.

Private channel Geo News reported that Pakistan's military and intelligence sources told a select group of journalists that NATO and American command had been told that Islamabad would be forced to relocate its military from the borders with Afghanistan if there is escalation in tension with India, where nearly 200 people were killed in the multiple terror attacks on the Indian financial capital.

"These sources have said NATO and the US command have been told that Pakistan would not be able to concentrate on the war on terror and against militants around the Afghanistan border as defending its borders with India was far more important," Geo News quoted senior Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir as saying.

He also said the sources had briefed the media that the decision not to send the ISI chief Lt Gen Shuja Pasha to India was taken after Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee used a very aggressive tone with Pakistani officials on telephone after the Mumbai attacks.

"The decision to not send the ISI DG to India was taken because Mukherjee used strong words with Pakistani officials and warned of consequences," Mir quoted the military sources as saying. Expressindia

Russian intelligence sees U.S. military buildup on Iran border

Russian military intelligence services are reporting a flurry of activity by U.S. Armed Forces near Iran’s borders, a high-ranking security source said Tuesday.

“The latest military intelligence data point to heightened U.S. military preparations for both an air and ground operation against Iran,” the official said, adding that the Pentagon has probably not yet made a final decision as to when an attack will be launched.

He said the Pentagon is looking for a way to deliver a strike against Iran “that would enable the Americans to bring the country to its knees at minimal cost.”

Mumbai terrorists had been staying at the Jewish Centre (Nariman House) in a guest house for 2 weeks prior to the attacks

Officials said earlier in the day that at least nine gunmen had been killed in clashes with security forces at the Taj Mahal, but almost all guests and staff had been freed.

Meanwhile, commandos on Friday ended a similar standoff at the office of the ultra-orthodox Jewish group Chabad Lubavitch by lowering themselves from helicopters and blowing a hole in the office wall.

During the operation, the commandos killed two militants, only to discover the bodies of the six hostages inside, the city's police chief confirmed.

Two of the hostages killed were identified as Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife, Rivka, the couple who ran the centre, said a spokesman for the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. Their 18-month-old son had been one of three people rescued from the centre on Thursday.

In a telephone interview with CBC News from outside the centre, freelance journalist Arun Asthhana said there are reports that some of the militants had stayed at a guest house there for up to 15 days before the attacks.

Details of one of Britain's most sensitive spy centres have been revealed in official documents posted on the internet by a local council.

Whitehall security officials have raised serious concerns after the authority published a planning file revealing the 'national security' role of the development.

The major blunder means that the full details of what is believed to be a covert MI5 operations centre - used to share intelligence with MI6 and GCHQ - are now in the public domain.

The documents include plans of the building and details of its sophisticated 'anti-intruder measures'.

They also reveal sensitive information about the number of staff - including security guards - who will work at the spy centre, as well as its hours of operation and the location of all its security cameras.

Diagrams in the planning file show banks of computer servers, which are understood to form part of a system designed to speed up intelligence-sharing between Britain's security agencies.

The project was designed to disguise the giant computer hub by hiding it in an anonymous-looking warehouse in the South-East of England.

But the documents published by the council - which The Mail on Sunday has decided not to name for security reasons - show photographs and maps of the building and leave little doubt over what it is being used for.

Emails from the planning officers involved in the decision to give the go-ahead to the massive development also demonstrate the site's importance to national security.

Putin Urges Calm As India Readies Nuclear Forces

Saakashvili: we started the war

Now The Independent can reveal how the astonishing picture came to be taken by a newspaper photographer who hid inside a train carriage as gunfire erupted all around him.

Sebastian D’Souza, a picture editor at the Mumbai Mirror, whose offices are just opposite the city’s Chhatrapati Shivaji station, heard the gunfire erupt and ran towards the terminus. “I ran into the first carriage of one of the trains on the platform to try and get a shot but couldn’t get a good angle, so I moved to the second carriage and waited for the gunmen to walk by,” he said. “They were shooting from waist height and fired at anything that moved. I briefly had time to take a couple of frames using a telephoto lens. I think they saw me taking photographs but theydidn’t seem to care.”

The gunmen were terrifyingly professional, making sure at least one of them was able to fire their rifle while the other reloaded.
